Description
This is a barn located at Great Lemhill Farm, likely built in the early 18th century. It is constructed from random coursed rubble stone with quoins and features a stone slate roof. The barn has five bays and includes a gabled projecting cart entry on the southeast side, along with an opposed flush entry on the northwest side, both supported by stepped buttresses. A former lean-to on the north side of the projecting entry has been demolished. The projecting entry has a tile-hung gable and doors on the south side, as well as in the south side of the projecting wall, both under timber lintels. There is a pitch hole on the north gable and scattered square vent holes throughout. The interior has undergone many repairs but retains one raised cruck to the south of the central threshing floor. The main roof line behind the projecting entry features arched wind bracing, while the rest of the structure is only partially visible, appearing to consist mainly of two trenched purlins with low collar beams.
