Description
This building is a former wash-house and slaughterhouse, which also served as a garage and stable. It dates from the late 17th century to early 18th century and includes elements from the 19th century. The structure is made of coursed squared and dressed limestone, with random limestone blocks, and features a roof of stone slate, concrete tiles, and corrugated asbestos. It has an 'L'-shaped plan, with the former wash-house on the far left and the slaughterhouse on the right, while the garage and 19th-century stable extend forward on the right side.
The former wash-house has a doorless single-width entrance, with a 2-light, unglazed stone-mullioned casement to the right. There is a doorway in the left gable end and a wide stable-type door leading to the butchery on the right. The garage/store has an open front with two bays, and there is a stable door to the stable on the right. An axial stack with moulded capping rises from the roof over the wash-house.
