5/62 Hatherop Downs Buildings

II

Field farm complex. Mid/late C19. Coursed rock-faced masonry, tile roof. Single long range, with cross-wings in centre and to right and open end to left, mainly single storey and loft. Central gabled wing with square vent tower on ridge, cambered stone arch doorway with large pitch-hole and open oculus over. Small cross wing to right end has cambered stone arch and open oculus over, with additional entry immediately to left with trouble timber doors and wooden boarded gable. Left end has 5-bay open end with timber piers, rear wall extending to south-west to form side of enclosed courtyard at rear. Additional lower gable wing behind central cross-wing also forming side of courtyard. A late but well preserved set of farm buildings in the model farm tradition.
