Mainhead Farm

Mainhead Farm is a courtyard group of buildings dating from 1786, with later alterations. The farmhouse is located on the south side and features one storey plus attics, with a white-washed rubble front, gabled attic windows that have an arrowslit motif, and a slate roof with skew gables. The building is two windows wide, with plain reveals and a sloped hood on curved brackets above the central door. There are symmetrical low outbuildings at the gable ends. The complex includes a fine group of farm buildings surrounding the yard. The west range consists of a two-storey granary and barn, which has an attached octagonal horse mill on the west side, retaining its original roof timbers. Notable features include distinctive ventilator openings on the upper floor and arched ground floor openings facing the yard, which are partly blocked. There is also a subsidiary range in the yard that includes a group of five flight holes for a pigeon loft.
