Description

Millhouse is a former mill-house that was originally built in the early 18th century and remodeled in the mid-19th century. It features coursed rubble construction with a slate roof, coped verges, and three ashlar chimneys with moulded capping, with the right-hand chimney dating back to the 18th century. The building is two storeys high and divided into two parts. The right side, which is older, has three bays with three- and four-light mullion windows that have drips, and a central mid-19th century door. The left side, from the mid-19th century, has two bays and matches the style of the right side, with a doorway featuring voussoirs similar to those of the mill. There is also a parallel mid-19th century range at the rear, with the lower part of the left bay containing a bread oven. Millhouse is part of a picturesque and well-known group that includes the Mill and the Bridge.
