Description

BARRINGTON THE GREEN, SP 2012-2112 Little Barrington Village 11/93 Green View 23.1.52 GV II Cottage at end of row (formerly 2 cottages). Early-mid C17 in two different phases. Coursed squared and dressed limestone. Stone slate roof (formerly partly thatched) with an ashlar and a composite rendered stack. Main body comprises two adjoining rectangular cottages, lean-to extension to the gable end of the left-hand cottage, small extensions at right angles to the main body of both cottages. Left-hand cottage; two storeys with single-storey lean-to to left. Single 3-light stone-mullioned casement to the first floor, similar casement to the ground floor. C20 two-light stone-mullioned casement set within the blocking of a former doorway to lean-to on left. Right-hand cottage; two- storeys and attic, lit by a single rendered C20 two-light roof dormer. Two 2-light double-chamfered stone-mullioned casements to the first floor both with stopped hoods. Two-light double- chamfered stone-mullioned casement to the ground floor set within the blocking of a former doorway with a large single stone lintel. C20 plank door to left also possibly set within the blocking of a formerly larger opening. Continuous moulded hood stepped up over the window. All casements plastic with imitation leading. Interior not inspected.
