Description

Green View is a cottage located at the end of a row in Little Barrington Village, dating from the early to mid-17th century and originally consisting of two cottages. The building is constructed from coursed squared and dressed limestone and features a stone slate roof, which was formerly partly thatched, along with an ashlar and a composite rendered stack.

The main structure includes two adjoining rectangular cottages, with a lean-to extension on the gable end of the left-hand cottage and small extensions at right angles to both cottages. The left-hand cottage has two storeys and a single-storey lean-to on the left side. It features a single three-light stone-mullioned casement on both the first and ground floors. There is also a 20th-century two-light stone-mullioned casement set within the blocking of a former doorway leading to the lean-to.

The right-hand cottage has two storeys and an attic, illuminated by a single rendered 20th-century two-light roof dormer. It has two two-light double-chamfered stone-mullioned casements on the first floor, both with stopped hoods, and a two-light double-chamfered stone-mullioned casement on the ground floor, also set within the blocking of a former doorway that features a large single stone lintel. A 20th-century plank door to the left may also be within the blocking of a previously larger opening. A continuous moulded hood steps up over the window. All casements are plastic with imitation leading. The interior has not been inspected.
