Description
A pair of semi-detached villas, Numbers 23 and 25 Cleevelands, were built around 1834 to 1850. They are located on Tivoli Road in Cheltenham, originally known as Tivoli. The houses have stucco exteriors over brickwork and hipped slate roofs. On the right side, there is a stucco ridge stack situated off-centre. The elevation has two storeys and seven first-floor windows arranged as a 5:2 pattern. There is a single-storey, two-window range to the right. Stucco detailing includes Doric pilasters to the right of the fourth window, two pilasters to the right of the fifth window, and one to the right of the sixth window. The first-floor windows are 6/6 sashes with margin lights, while the ground-floor windows have 2/2 horizontal-pane sashes, also with margin lights. The ground-floor range on the right has 6-pane French windows with divided overlights, all with margin lights. A rectangular bay window is present on the ground floor to the left. Venetian shutters are fitted to the house to the right. The windows are in plain reveals and have sills. The entrances, located below the fourth and seventh windows, are 4-panel doors, partly glazed, with fanlights and pilastered surrounds, featuring a frieze and cornice. The interior of Number 25 has not been inspected. Houses on Tivoli Road are depicted on Merrett's 1834 map, indicating the original layout of the area.
