Description

This is a terrace of four houses located on Fairview Road, built around 1806 to 1835, with later additions and alterations including 19th and 20th-century extensions to the rear. The building is constructed of ashlar over brick, now stuccoed, with a concealed roof and brick and stucco end and party-wall stacks with cornices. The exterior is two storeys high with ten first-floor windows arranged in a 2:2:3:3 pattern. Stucco detailing includes pilaster strips to the ends of the terrace and between the houses, tooled first-floor bands, a continuous frieze, and an architrave and cornice remaining at number 153. There's a continuous blocking course and copings along the top. The windows are a mix of 2/2 and 1/1 sash windows, and casement windows, all in plain reveals with sills. Entrances on the right side of the terrace include four-panel doors, with the rightmost door partly glazed and with an overlight. Two entrances further along the terrace are recessed. The interior has not been inspected. Fairview Road was developed from around 1806, built on land enclosed by an Act of Parliament in 1806 to allow development.
