Description

St John's Cottage is a house dating from approximately the 1820s to 1850s. It is constructed with a stucco finish over brickwork, with a concealed roof and a brick stack. It forms a group with, and abuts, number 4 Carlton Street.

The house is two storeys high and has three windows on the first floor. The stucco detailing includes a first-floor band, full-height Tuscan pilasters, an architrave, a frieze, a cornice, and a blocking course. The first floor has windows with 6/6 sashes; the ground floor has similar sashes in plain reveals with sills. At the centre of the front is a door with five fielded panels, partially glazed.

The porch features cast- and wrought-ironwork with a scrolled flower and leaf motif to the stanchions and frieze. The first-floor windows have blind boxes. The interior of the house was not inspected during listing.
