Description

Numbers 5 and 7 are two houses built around 1820 to 1850, located on the south side of Carlton Street in Cheltenham. The houses are stucco-faced over brick, with a renewed tile roof and stucco stacks. They have an L-shaped layout.

The houses are two storeys high with a basement on the right side. The front facade has four first-floor windows and a single-storey entrance porch set back to the left. A horizontal band runs along the first floor. The original windows are 6/6 sashes in plain reveals with sills. A three-panel door is located within a solid porch with a corniced roof on the left side; a later 20th-century door is present on the right. The basement has 20th-century windows. The left return side of the building has three first-floor windows with 6/6 sashes.

The porch to the left has scrolled uprights and a tent-shaped roof. Area railings, featuring a scrolled lozenge design, are attached to the left side of Number 5. Arrowhead railings with urn finials mark the boundary divide. The interior was not inspected during the listing process.
