Description
This is a house and attached area railings dating to approximately 1820-1850. The main structure is stucco over brick, with a concealed roof, rear stacks, and an iron porch, balcony, and railings. The building has three storeys on the left side and a two-storey section over a basement on the right, with a continuous first-floor sill band. The left bay features blind openings, as well as 6/6 and 1/1 horned sash windows. An off-centre right entrance has steps leading to a six-panel door with an overlight, and the basement has casement windows. The garden facade, on the right return, has two storeys over a basement with two first-floor windows. A left end and centre section features Doric pilasters, the capitals of which are incorporated into a continuous frieze and cornice. This facade has 1/1 sash windows, with the ground-floor window on the left set in a wider, segmental-arched recess. The rear of the house still retains 6/6 sash windows. All windows are in plain reveals and have sills, except at the first floor, where a sill band is present. The interior of the house has not been inspected. The porch has a scrolled lozenge motif to its uprights, featuring an embellished openwork frieze and a tent roof. The area railings along the garden facade have a Carron Company double-heart-and-anthemion motif. A single balcony is located on the first floor, off-centre to the right, and showcases a scroll motif.
