Description

A terrace of four houses, numbers 113 to 119, built around 1806 to 1830. The houses are constructed of ashlar stone, although numbers 117 and 119 have a stucco finish, with brick party-wall stacks topped with cornices and iron railings. The roofs are concealed. The exterior features rustication to the ground floor, with dressings that appear as quoins on the right return. A plat band runs along the first floor, and there are tooled architraves to the first-floor windows, along with sills, frieze, cornice, and a blocking course. The windows are mostly original 6/6 sash windows, set in plain reveals. The entrances are located at the front of numbers 117 and 119, the front of number 115, and the right return of number 113. Three of the entrances have 4-panel and 6-panel doors with fanlights, one with glazing bars; the entrance on the right return has a 20th-century door with overlight. The right return includes quoins to the ground floor and a first-floor band; the first bay is blind, with three 6/6 sashes, an 8/8 sash, and a casement window to an outshut, which is ramped downwards at one end. The interior has not been inspected. Area railings, with spearhead bars, are attached to numbers 113 and 119. Fairview Road was developed from about 1806, as part of fields designated for building land by an Act of Parliament in 1806.
