Description
Numbers 36, 38, and 40, Albert Place, are a terrace of three houses dating from approximately 1827 to 1840, with subsequent alterations. The houses are constructed of ashlar, with painted stucco to the left-hand side, and have an artificial slate roof. They feature stucco party walls, end stacks, and iron railings. The houses are arranged with a double-depth plan and include left-hand stair halls.
The exterior presents two storeys and eight first-floor windows arranged in a 2:3:3 configuration. There is banded rustication between the floors, topped by a crowning cornice and blocking course. The windows are 2/2 sashes and 6/6 sashes, set in plain reveals with sills. The entrances on the left-hand side are uniform, featuring steps leading to partially glazed 20th-century doors with fanlights containing glazing bars, all within plain reveals. A round-arched passage entrance is located to the left. The interior was not inspected.
Attached area railings are present, along with arrowhead railings to the sides of the steps. The railings to the two houses on the right incorporate bars, dog-bars, and urn finials to the stanchions.
