Terraced house and attached area railings. c1827, laid out for Albert Hughes. Stucco over brick with concealed roof and right end stack with cornice and iron railings and gate. Double depth plan with left side hallway and transverse dogleg staircase. EXTERIOR: 2 storeys with basement, 2 first-floor windows. Stucco detailing includes ground-floor horizontal rustication with cornice over, surmounted to first floor by end pilasters, low parapet with copings and end acroteria. 6/6 sashes throughout, in plain reveals and with sills. Flight of 5 renewed steps to left entrance a 6-panel door with overlight with oval glazing bars. INTERIOR: not inspected. SUBSIDIARY FEATURES: gate and railings to area and sides of steps have arrowhead bars and dogbars, with anthemion motif to stanchions. HISTORICAL NOTE: formerly part of the north side of Portland Square. Forms a group with Nos 2, 6, and 8-30 (even), Albert Place (qqv).
