Description

19 and 21 Albert Place are a pair of houses built around 1827 to 1840, with later additions and alterations. They are constructed of stucco over brick and feature concealed roofs, brick and stucco stacks at the ends and between the houses, and iron verandahs. The houses have a double depth plan with hallways on the right side.

The exterior is three storeys high, with attics and two first-floor windows for each house. Architectural details include two-storey Tuscan pilasters at the ends and one in the center, along with a frieze, architrave, and cornice. The ground floor features banded rustication that extends into voussoirs above the windows. There is a moulded band at the first floor. The windows are 1/1 sashes throughout, with full-height windows on the first floor and tripartite windows on the ground floor that include 1/1 side-lights and cambered heads. The windows have plain reveals and sills. The entrances are located on the right and consist of four-panel doors with overlights. There are three stacks in total, including end and party wall stacks. The houses are topped with a crowning blocking course and copings.

The interior has not been inspected. A notable feature is the continuous verandah on the first floor of each house, which has a scrolled lozenge motif on the uprights and a Gothick frieze on the tent roof.
