Barn And Pigsties Immediately To The West Of Chimsworthy

This building consists of a barn and attached pigsties located immediately to the west of Chimsworthy. The barn likely dates from the 18th century, while the pigsties are probably from the early 19th century. The walls are made of rendered cob, and the barn has a gable-ended roof covered with corrugated iron. The barn features a long rectangular plan with a central threshing floor. The pigsties are arranged in a row at the front of the left-hand side, connecting the barn to the house. The structure is single storey. The barn has an asymmetrical front, which includes a central cart entrance, an inserted doorway at the right-hand end, and a blocked doorway at the left end with a window to its right. The pigsties project at right angles from the left-hand end of the barn, consisting of three units, each with a door and a central covered passage between the two on the right. Inside, there is a 20th-century A-frame roof structure with metal bolts.
