Description

This listing describes a row of six monuments located in the churchyard about 9 meters north of the north aisle of the Church of St Peter in Lamerton. The monuments date from the 16th, 17th, 18th, and early 19th centuries and are made of slate.

Among them is one ledger stone featuring an inscription around the border and a central verse dedicated to Mary, although the rest of the inscription is illegible. There is a headstone for Joanna Ellis from 1810, which has convex moulded panels at the top and sides, along with a central oval inscription panel. Another headstone commemorates Thomas Burnaford, who passed away in 1683, and it features bold lettering. A headstone for William from Willistrewe dates back to 1532 and has an incised line surrounding the inscription panel, though the surname is broken off. The headstone for Grace Harvey, dated 1804, has a shaped top with scrolled decoration. Lastly, there is a headstone for Roger Veare from 1768, which features a raised rounded top and a cherub's head with wings, along with a slightly raised and carved border around the inscription panel.
