Description
This is a pair of cottages located on High Street, North Tawton, dating from the 18th century. They have walls of rendered cob and a thatched roof, with brick gable end stacks. Each cottage originally comprised a single room, heated by a gable end fireplace. The front facade is asymmetrical, with a 3-window arrangement, 2 windows to the right on No. 26. The upper floor features early 20th-century 2 and 3-light casement windows. Late 20th-century casement windows are found on the ground floor of each cottage. No. 28 has a 19th-century 4-panel door, and No. 26 has a part-glazed 20th-century door. The interior of the cottages was not inspected. The group value stems from their contribution to the streetscape.
