Description
72 Independent Street is a cottage that has been significantly rebuilt, likely in the early 20th century by Christine Hamlyn. The exterior is rendered and whitewashed, topped with a hipped slate roof. There are two brick chimney stacks, one at the rear of the left side and one at the right end.
The cottage has a single room depth and features a central hall with rooms on either side. It is two storeys high and has a 2:1 window arrangement. The windows include two-light casements with closely set glazing bars and 12-pane sash windows, along with two small dormer windows in the roof. The main door opening is nearly centered and flanked by small four-pane casements, leading to a half-glazed door with a gabled slated hood supported by consoles. There are also secondary door openings on the left side and small sash windows with close-set glazing bars. The interior has not been inspected.
