Description
Nos 68 and 69 Independent Street are a pair of attached cottages, likely built in the mid 19th century and repaired in 1911 by Christine Hamlyn. The cottages are constructed of rubble with some rough plaster, all of which is whitewashed. They feature brick chimneystacks and a gable-ended slate roof.
The cottages have a rectangular plan with an attached path, and the left cottage is set back slightly. At the rear, there are three gabled wings. Each cottage has a central entrance hall with a main room on either side.
The exterior is two storeys high with two sets of two windows. The 19th-century windows are 12-pane two-light casements. There are paired central door openings with half-glazed 19th-century doors, each topped with a raked hood. The interior has not been inspected.
