Description

SHEBBEAR SS 40 NW 6/73 Gate piers immediately to south- - east of Shebbear College GV II 2 adjoining pairs of gate piers. Probably dating to 1841 when Shebbear College was founded. Rendered probably rubble. Square with chamfered edges and large caps with 2 roundheaded panels on each side. The inner piers to the right-hand pair are inscribed with the initials "B.C." signifying the Bible Christian origins of the college.
