Description
Shebbear College Eastern Range, formerly the printing works, is a college building that is believed to date back to the time of the Bible Christian training college founded on the site in 1841. The building features rendered walls and a gable-ended slate roof. It has an L-shaped plan, with a single-storey range that adjoins the road to the northeast and a larger two-storey block at right angles to the southwest.
The front range is two storeys high, while the rear wing is single storey. The two-storey range has an asymmetrical front with three windows, featuring early 20th-century 16-pane sashes and two possibly original Venetian windows below. There is a round-arched doorway at the left end, and to the right, wooden steps from the 20th century lead to a first-floor doorway. The right end wall has a large Venetian window on the first floor and a probably contemporary tripartite sash window below. The single-storey wing behind the right-hand end has four original 12-pane sash windows on its outer face, which include Gothic glazing. The interior has not been inspected.
