Description
The former school, located 5 yards south of the former Congregational Church on High Street, dates back to 1853. It is now part of a printing works. The building is constructed of coursed squared rubble with freestone dressings and features a slate roof with a coped gable at the north end. Designed in a Gothic style, it has a T-plan with a projecting gabled center. The structure consists of three bays, with the outer bays featuring 3-light cross windows that have pointed heads and a wide transom decorated with quatrefoils. The central bay includes a projecting single-storey porch supported by buttresses, an embattled parapet, and a doorway with a 4-centred head. Inside the porch, there is a moulded inner doorcase and a panelled door, along with a window above that has intersecting tracery and a date plaque. To the left, there is a single bay two-storey wing that is recessed.
