Description
This barn, located about 8 meters east of Higher Rubhay Farmhouse, dates from the mid to late 19th century. It is constructed of unrendered cob on stone rubble footings and features a slate roof that is hipped at the ends, extending down over the front as a pent roof supported by timber brackets. The barn is lofted, with its front facing the farmyard and the rear overlooking a field where the ground slopes sharply away. The front elevation is partly hidden by a corrugated iron lean-to on the left side. On the right side, there are large paired doors with projecting cob buttressed jambs, and square loft openings are located on either side of the doorway. The barn has group value with Higher Rubhay Farmhouse and is a prominent feature in the landscape.
