Cottage, originally part of a larger house. Mid C17 or earlier. Whitewashed and rendered, probably stone and cob ; thatched roof, half-hipped at right end, hipped to end of rear wing ; stack with brick shaft at junction between main block and rear wing. Plan: 1 room wide, 2 rooms deep, the principal room at the front with a smaller service room in a rear wing. C20 lean-to adjoins at right end, entrance into principal room through lean-to. Possibly the lower end or inner room of a 2 or 3 room plan house. Exterior: 2 storeys. 1 window front with 1 ground floor metal-framed C20 window. The rear elevation has a first floor 2-light C17 mullioned window with chamfered mullions and C18 or C19 small-pane casements. Interior: The principal room (to the front) has a chamfered axial beam (stops possibly concealed in wall plaster) and a red sandstone fireplace with a timber lintel and brick-lined bread oven. Roof: C20 roof trusses but 2 boxed-in curved timbers (truncated in the roof space) are probably a jointed cruck roof truss.
