Description

KINGS NYMPTON SS 61 NE 3/139 Wooda Cottage - II Cottage. Late C17, refronted probably in early C19. Unrendered stone rubble facade, rendered cob to rear. Thatch roof with gable end stone rubble stacks with tapered caps. Plan: 2-room plan, with direct entry into larger left-hand room. Staircase runs from back to front between the 2 rooms, to right of entrance door. C20 single storey extension at right end and C20 rear outshut. Exterior: 2 storeys. 3-window range. Early C19 fenestration intact, all 2-light casements except for 3-light casement to ground floor left. Diamond leaded lights. Ground floor windows have rough stone voussoirs, timber lintels to upper storey windows. Gabled thatched roof to C19 stone rubble porch with cambered lintel and inner door with 3 panelled base and 3 pointed arched glazed upper panels. Interior: Scroll-stopped chamfered cross ceiling beam to left-hand room. Chamfered fireplace lintel with scratched X decoration to the stops. No access to roofspace but straight principals of single truss visible.
