Description

Wooda Cottage is a cottage dating from the late 17th century, which was likely refronted in the early 19th century. The facade is made of unrendered stone rubble, while the rear is constructed of rendered cob. It features a thatched roof with stone rubble stacks at the gable ends, which have tapered caps. The building has a two-room plan, with direct entry into the larger room on the left. A staircase runs from the back to the front between the two rooms, positioned to the right of the entrance door. There is a 20th-century single-storey extension at the right end and a 20th-century rear outshut.

The cottage is two storeys high and has a three-window range. The early 19th-century windows are mostly intact, consisting of two-light casements, except for a three-light casement on the ground floor to the left. The windows feature diamond leaded lights, with rough stone voussoirs on the ground floor windows and timber lintels above the upper storey windows. A gabled thatched roof covers a 19th-century stone rubble porch, which has a cambered lintel and an inner door with a three-panelled base and three pointed arched glazed upper panels.

Inside, the left-hand room has a scroll-stopped chamfered cross ceiling beam. The fireplace lintel is chamfered and features scratched X decoration on the stops. Although there is no access to the roof space, the straight principals of a single truss are visible.
