Description
Cougie Green is a cottage located in Kings Nympton, dating from the late 18th century or early 19th century. It features painted roughcast rendered stone and cob, topped with a hipped thatch roof and a brick stack at the right end. The original layout consisted of two rooms with a central passage, along with an additional bay at the left end that was formerly an outbuilding but has now been incorporated into the dwelling. The passage partitions on each side have been removed, and the left-hand room of the original cottage was unheated, containing a staircase in the rear left-hand corner.
The cottage is two storeys tall and has a three-window range. To the right, there are two 19th-century two-light casements with eight panes per light, while the other windows are of 20th-century design. The windows have plain rendered architraves. A 20th-century gabled porch and a lean-to porch have been added at the left end. Attached to the left end is a single-storey outbuilding, which was originally said to have a fireplace at the left gable end. The interior has been entirely altered in the 20th century.
