Description

Biskey How is a cottage from the early to mid-19th century located in the hamlet of Kingscott. It is constructed of plastered stone rubble, with some parts possibly made of cob, and features stone rubble stacks topped with 19th and 20th-century brick. The cottage has a thatched roof and a three-room plan that faces south. The former kitchen is at the left (west) end and has a gable-end stack with a projecting oven housing. The entrance leads directly into the central room, which was the parlour or living room, heated by an axial stack that backs onto the right (east) end room. The building is two storeys high and has a 20th-century lean-to outshot on the right end.

The exterior displays an irregular four-window front with various casements. The oldest window, located on the first floor right of centre, is likely original and contains rectangular panes of leaded glass. The remaining windows are from the 20th century, some with glazing bars and some without. The front doorway, positioned left of centre, features a 20th-century part-glazed plank door. The roof is gable-ended on the left and half-hipped on the right.

Inside, there is no exposed carpentry on the ground floor, and the fireplaces are blocked by 19th-century grates. The roof has not been inspected. Biskey How is part of an attractive group of listed buildings in Kingscott.
