Description
Sunnyside Cottage is a cottage that likely dates from the 19th century, though it may be older, and was modernised around 1970. It is built from plastered stone rubble with 20th century brick quoins, and features stone rubble stacks topped with 20th century brick. The thatched roof adds to its character. The cottage has a two-room layout facing southeast, with each room having a gable-end stack. The right room, which is the kitchen, has an oven housing that projects from the stack.
The exterior is symmetrical, featuring four ground floor windows and three first floor windows, all of which are 20th century casements with 20th century brick reveals. The central doorway has a 20th century part-glazed plank door, which is sheltered by a contemporary porch.
Inside, the cottage shows mainly the effects of the 20th century modernisation, with both fireplaces blocked and no exposed carpentry. The roof has not been inspected. Although the cottage is standalone, it contributes to the overall appearance of Kingscott, a hamlet that contains a notable group of listed buildings.
