ST GILES KINGSCOTT SS 51 NW IN THE WOOD 18/213 Kingscott House - GV II

House. Early - mid C19 with a late C19 service extension. Plastered stone rubble; stone rubble or brick stacks with plastered chimneyshafts; thatch roof, slate roof to rear block. Plan: Double depth plan house facing north-east. There is a front and back room with an axial stack between either side of the central entrance hall and main stair. Rear service block projects at right angles to rear of the right end. 2 storeys with attics to the main house and single storey extension on the left end. Exterior: Main block has a symmetrical 3-window front arranged around a central front doorway which contains a C19 6-pane door behind a late C19 thatch-roofed and gabled porch with cusped bargeboards. Each side are late C19 canted bay windows containing 4-pane sashes. At first floor level the outer windows are blind and the centre one contains a 16-pane sash window. The tall roof is half-hipped both ends. The end walls have 2-window fronts of 16-pane sashes and arch-headed dormers with Y-tracery. A late C19 single storey extension on the left end is flat-roofed and contains lancet windows. The service block contains unusual 6-panes sashes with only vertical glazing bars. Interior was not available for inspection at the time of this survey.
