Description

Youngs Farmhouse is a former farmhouse, likely built in the early 18th century and remodeled in the early 19th century. The accommodation was later extended into former agricultural buildings at the rear in the late 19th century. The building features colourwashed rendered sandstone and a thatched roof with a plain ridge, gabled at both ends. There is a projecting left end stack with a bread oven, a right end stack, and a stack for the former agricultural building.

The main block has a single depth plan, consisting of two rooms wide with an entrance leading into a stair lobby that contains a wide stair. The right-hand room is larger than the left. The house has been extended into a range of agricultural buildings at the rear, which are positioned at right angles to the right-hand room and provide service rooms.

The exterior is two storeys high with an asymmetrical five-window front. To the left of centre, there is a charming thatched rustic porch with a plank front door. The windows are attractive 2-and 3-light small pane timber casements, dating from the 19th century or earlier. Inside, both fireplaces have been rebuilt, and the ground floor rooms feature exposed roughly-chamfered crossbeams. The roof has not been inspected.
