Description

Marine Cottage is an early 19th-century house located on The Straw in Starcross. The building is rendered and features a slate roof with gabled ends and a stack at the left end. It has a deep rectangular plan with a narrow street frontage, consisting of one room wide, and the front door is positioned to the right. The exterior resembles the adjacent Sea Vista but has a lower roofline. The front is asymmetrical with two bays, a deep eaves cornice, and a 20th-century front door on the right, which is framed by an early 19th-century moulded doorcase and a rectangular overlight. To the left, there is a two-storey bow window, glazed with 19th-century sash windows, featuring four panes in the outer lights and twelve panes in the center. The interior has not been inspected but may contain interesting features.
