Description
The Georgian House is an early 19th-century house, later divided into flats, situated on the Strand in Kenton. The building is colourwashed and rendered, likely over a stone structure, with a slate roof hidden behind a parapet and end stacks. It has a double-depth plan with steps leading to a central entrance. The symmetrical three-bay front features a moulded cornice, outer pilasters, and three-storey bow windows on either side. Steps rise to a central panelled front door with a deep rectangular fanlight and a moulded eared architrave. The windows are tripartite sashes; those in the half basement have moulded pilasters, with four-pane outer sashes and a six-pane centre sash. The ground floor windows generally have four-over-two-pane outer sashes, while the central ground floor window has a six-over-two-pane configuration, with some original glazing bars missing from the lower lights. Similar window patterns are present on the first floor, although some bars are also missing. The central window above the front door is a six-over-two-pane sash with a moulded eared architrave. There are three attic dormers, with the central one possibly original. The interior was not inspected during the listing process but is likely to contain features and original joinery of interest. The house occupies a prominent position and is similar in appearance to the neighbouring property on the right.
