Description

The Starcross War Memorial is a First World War memorial that has had names added later to honor those who fell in the Second World War and subsequent conflicts. It is made of granite and features a hexagonal four-tiered plinth topped with a roughly-hewn wheel cross. The memorial includes several stone plaques with inscriptions such as ‘IN HONOURED MEMORY OF THE MEN OF STARCROSS WHO DIED IN THE GREAT WAR 1914 - 1919’, ‘1939 – 1945/WE SHALL REMEMBER THEM/ THEIR NAME LIVETH FOR EVERMORE’, and ‘ALSO OF L/C DUMBLETON, KILLED IN ACTION CYPRUS 1975’, along with the names of the Fallen.
