Description

The Marsham War Memorial is a First World War memorial, erected around 1920, with additional names added after the Second World War.

Made of granite, the memorial stands approximately 3.3 meters tall and features a roughly-hewn wheel-head cross with a tapering shaft. This cross rises from a square plinth, which is set on a single-stepped square platform. The plinth is inscribed with the words: "IN MEMORY OF THOSE WHO FELL IN BATTLE/ 1914 1918/ (NAMES)/ 1939 - 1945/ (NAMES)/ LEST WE FORGET." This inscription is also replicated on a separate, upright plaque installed at the foot of the memorial.
