Description
The Willows is a former farmhouse dating from around 1700, constructed of red brick and colourwashed brick, topped with a smut pantile roof. The building has two storeys and attics, and was extended in the 18th or 19th century with an additional two storeys to the north. The eastern facade, originally five bays wide, is now partially obscured by a two-storey timber frame porch added in the 20th century. It features a brick plinth, a corbelled brick plat band at the first floor level, a string course at the eaves level, and clasping pilasters with capitals at each end. The windows were inserted in the 20th century. On the south gable, there are two 20th-century windows at the first floor and two blocked windows in the attic. A central sundial, dated 1651, is also present. The building has curved gables at each end, with plat bands at the attic floor level and gable stacks. It includes three 20th-century flat-roofed dormers with casement windows. There is a hipped roof extension and a single 20th-century extension to the north, which are not of special interest. The tie irons are marked with the initials "I. G."
