Description
The entrance walls, gates, and gate piers to Rowdens are mid-19th century structures located on the east side of Dawlish Road in Teignmouth. They are made of coped red sandstone rubble, featuring substantial square piers that measure approximately 1 meter on each side. These piers have stepped caps that rise to support former ball finials. The walls are about 2.5 meters high and extend approximately 6 meters on either side, with a concave curve to the left and a convex curve to the right, ending at a pier. The tall double gates are adorned with intricate wrought-iron work. This entrance forms an important part of the setting for Rowdens.
