Description
The gates, gate piers, and walls at the west entrance to Woodway House date from the early 19th century. They feature painted render over red sandstone rubble walls, with Plymouth stone gate piers and wrought-iron gates. The serpentine walls are approximately 2 meters high and extend about 9 meters on each side, with thick construction and flat coping. The tall gate piers are topped with swept caps and ball finials. The gates, which curve down to the center, have a combination of long and short railings with cast-iron spearheads at the tops.
