Description
This is a barn located immediately to the south-west of Whitlocksworthy Farmhouse, dating from the early 16th century but altered in the 19th and 20th centuries. It features slate rubble walls with some cob in the end walls and has a hipped slate roof. The barn has a long rectangular plan, though its original arrangement is uncertain, likely serving as a threshing barn.
The exterior is single storey, and the elevation facing the farmhouse includes an inserted doorway towards the left-hand end. The only surviving original feature is a heavy timber doorframe with a shouldered head located at the centre of this elevation. In front of the doorframe is a 20th-century concrete lean-to. The right-hand end wall has a triangular owl-hole at the top. Inside, there are pegged A-frame trusses from the 18th or early 19th century.
