Description
Conduit House is a structure built in 1708, made of granite. It has a square shape and is set on an offset plinth, topped with a pyramidal granite roof that features a continuous moulded eaves course and a ball finial. The west side of the building has a blocked square opening with a worn panel or lintel that bears an illegible inscription. The main structure is constructed from squared granite blocks, while the back is made of rubble. This conduit is one of three that were part of the water supply system provided to the town by Nicholas Trist, the lord of the manor, in 1708, and it remained in use until the 1950s.
