Description

AVETON GIFFORD A379 SX 65 SE (off south side) 1/12 Cottage c.130 metres south-west of Harraton Farmhouse - II Small detached cottage. C18. Rendered rubble or cob, brick stacks, thatched roof, slate to lean-to. Symmetrical front, continuous lean-to across back; set gable to road. Two storeys, 2 windows; 2-light glazing bar casements, but 3-light to ground floor, left. Central plank door in light gable, blank recessed panel in wall above. Hipped end to lane has larger 2-light casement low right, and small one top left; back has small single light, C20 glazed door, and a 2-light glazing bar casement. Far gable has a single light at ground floor and a small 2-light set high. Brick stacks to each gable, and each end of outshut. Interior not accessible. Cottage lies on a lane, formerly the Modbury to Kingsbridge road but now by-passed by the A379, the later toll road.
