Description
Springfield is a detached cottage, likely dating from the 18th century, which was formerly at least two separate dwellings. It is constructed of Ham stone rubble, with the south gable rendered. The cottage features a thatched roof with a stepped coped north gable and a plain south gable, along with brick chimney stacks at either end. The building is two storeys high and has five bays.
The cottage displays a variety of casement windows, most of which have horizontal glazing bars. Some windows have iron-framed opening lights, arranged in groups of 3, 2, 2, and 3 lights above, with no window in the first bay. Below, the window arrangement consists of 1, 3, 1, 2, and 3 lights. In the third bay, there is a boarded door set in a heavy frame, while there are blocked doorways in the first and fifth bays. Timber lintels are present over all lower openings. Additionally, there is an extra casement window in the north gable and another on the south side. The interior has not been seen.
