Description

The Cider House is a detached house, possibly with origins in the 17th century, but significantly modified in the 18th and 19th centuries. It is built of ham stone rubble, with a thatched roof featuring plain gables and brick chimney stacks. The house is single-storey with an attic, and has six bays with an irregular arrangement of windows. It has horizontal-bar casement windows of two lights, varying in size, with attic windows located in bays one, two and five, set into the roof. A 20th-century boarded door is found in the lower bay. Attached to the north gable, forming a continuation of the main house, is the former cider house. The cider house has a single open/shuttered two-light window and a boarded door on its west front, and an unglazed three-light window in its north gable. The rear elevation of the main house is similar, and the cider house has an older pattern door and window. The interior of the main house was not inspected.
