Description
White Gates is a detached cottage that dates from the 18th century or possibly earlier. It is constructed of ham stone rubble and features a thatched roof with a stepped coped gable on the east side and plain coping on the west. The building has brick chimney stacks at both ends.
The cottage is two storeys high and has a three-bay south elevation with irregularly placed windows. There are small-pane casement windows, with a three-light window on the lower level and a two-light window above. There are part-glazed doors located between the first and second bays, and between the third and fourth bays, with the latter set in a deep recess. The rear elevation is similar in style.
This building is included in the heritage listing mainly for its group value within this small settlement.
