Description
The barn and outbuilding near the granary at Babland Farm is a two-storey bank barn, aligned with a lower outbuilding that contains loose boxes. It dates from the early 19th century and is constructed of rubble. The barn features a corrugated asbestos-cement sheet roof, while the lower buildings have a slurried slate roof, with some slate on the back slope of the barn. The barn is almost touching and runs parallel to the granary, featuring a square loading opening with a concrete lintel on the farm side, along with various openings and a corrugated iron lean-to. The back of the barn has a pair of doors leading to the upper level, as well as a loading opening in the north gable. Inside, the barn has a ten-bay scissors and tie-beam roof supported by three purlins. The lower block has a half-hipped outer end and four doors with segmental heads and stone voussoirs. The buildings are arranged in line with the farmhouse and granary, creating a cohesive group.
