Description

The Parkin headstone, located approximately 15 metres south of the south porch of the Church of St Peter in Fremington, dates from around 1840. It is made of slate and features a straight-headed design with scalloped corners. The central motif depicts a heart containing a flower being cut down by a knife held by a hand, accompanied by the verse on either side: "Man cometh up and is cut down like a flower." The headstone commemorates members of the Parkin family.
