HAMSTERLEY HAMSTERLEY NZ13SW 11/77 (inset) Parkin tomb circa 8 metres south of Church of St. James

GV II

Headstone to Christopher Parkin, died 1807, and members of his family from 1752 to 1820. Sandstone ashlar slab c. 1.6 metres high with shaped top. Small pecked top panel has 2 low-relief winged cherubs. Long inscription includes 'In Commemoration and Affection/was Erected this Stone by Elizabeth Parkin/the Disconsolate widow of the above Michael Parkin and Jane and Alice/his two surviving daughters'. Rear inscribed 'ALLAH KERIM' and 'The Providence of GOD is great', with commemoration of members of family.
