Description
This pair of gravestones, dating from the early 19th century, is located approximately 12 metres southwest of the southwest corner of the west tower of the Church of St Peter. The gravestones are made of slate and back onto each other. The stone facing east commemorates John Fry, who died in 1807 at the age of 45. The stone facing west, which may have been reset from the foot of the grave, features an inscription that reads: "God took me of all in my prime I could not longer stay And laid me up until his time In my cold bed of cley. Weep not for me my friends that be Nor wife and children kind When God thinks fit we must submit Unto his Holy mind."
