II
Summerhouse. Early or mid C19. Coursed stone rubble with details in dressed stone. Flat roof. 2 storeys. Small octagonal building with external staircase on south-east side. Exterior (inspected only from the public roads on the east and south) appears to have an opening with Tudor arch and hood-mould in each face of the upper storey; some of the openings are blind or blocked, as is one in the ground storey, but at least 3 have glazed, 2-light windows with wooden mullions and transoms. Raised band between the storeys; moulded top cornice and parapet. The east side has a doorway in upper storey; door with ribbed, square stone piers; iron railing in between, the feet of the uprights designed as lilies. INTERIOR not inspected. The summerhouse is not shown on the tithe map of 1840. (Ilfracombe Chronicle: Hussell AT: 9.7.1937: 8).
