Description
Kirkhead Summer House is a 19th-century summerhouse located on Kirkhead Road in Lower Allithwaite. It is constructed of stone rubble and features a square tower divided into two stages. The structure has a projecting embattled parapet with large stones at the corners and a lead spout on the east side. The west face includes a pointed window opening, while the east face has a similar opening that retains remnants of a shutter and sash, along with an entrance beneath it. The south face has later stone steps leading to a pointed entrance on the first floor. The interior has lost its floor and roof. This summerhouse is likely associated with Abbot Hall in Grange Urban District.
